fI have used it for a little over a year regularly and I love it. My roots are bright white always!!! I have never heard of it causing sludge. How can it. It is a good active enzyme. Who knows? But I personally see a very noticeable difference when it is used versus when it is not used. Keep using it!!!

The 2 main functions of Hygrozyme is to break down organic material to a form that is readily usable for the plant The other thing is it stimulates root growth. Your roots will absolutely take off...thus your plants will take off. I am doing a soil grown...not with clones but from seed. The stuff is great. In the pamplet I have from hygrozyme it shows a mans cabbage plants or something showing the root developement with no hygrozyme ...2ml per liter H2O....and 8ml per Liter of H2O. All the plants were pulled at the same time...I think it was after like two weeks. The one with 8ml per liter of had this huge mass of roots. while the 2ml pic had a decent root mass and the one with no HZ had what you would expect a 2 week old plant to have just several stringy root tips stretching out.

I have recently started using the Hygrozyme product and have seen great results ... healthy plants and roots! This product would be similar to the 'organic tea' referenced earlier in this discussion thread. Hygrozyme acts as a cleanser (removes gunk, i.e. organic material, around roots and in medium) and breaks down dead organic material and transforms it into a useable cellulose product (carbohydrates) which the plant uses.

hygrozyme's definitely an incredible product. stems get monstrous. i first got it to battle pythium, in conjunction with sm-90, worked wonders that nothing else could ever do that's for sure, as it could deal with all the waste of sm-90 destroying fungi etc where other zymes would be killed by sm-90. to me, that combo is THE root rot medic

Hygrozyme may help with root rot but being an enzyme it has many benefits.

One item of consensus is to use Hygrozyme during the grow and flush at the end or something. I'm not really sure of the exact technique, because I don't re-use my coco - so read up on it. I do use Hygrozyme in my grows. I just started using it recently and it really makes a difference in the roots.

I use Hygrozyme. I mentioned to my hydro store person that the smell made me think of a good beer. He said that it was an alcohol making by-product. The makers take sherry casks after the sherry is aged and drained they scape the inside of the casks to make the Hygrozyme . The stuff is great on the roots . Better roots = Better plants ?

All the roots will be pushed to the bottom and sides of the mesh. This method gets me 90-95% clean, the rest is taken care of by running hygrozyme in my reservor.

A healthy, living colony will do the same thing as Hygrozyme. Hygrozyme breaks down non-living organic matter in the rootzone; isn't that what the active colonies of compost do? As for the whitening effect, this is also caused by the digestion of dead epidermal layers of the roots. Dead skin so to speak! I suppose if it does as it's supposed to do then it would be a good product but the same can be achieved with thriving, varied colonies.

I use Hygrozime with every watering. It does it's job quite well which is to maintain a heathy living environment under the soil. I get mad root growth with the stuff and I am happy with it although I agree it is a bit pricey, but worth it in most cases.

...when running hygrozyme, the root develpment was so fast and robust that the plants could have used their first shot of nutes before they left the Dixie cups...

Hygrozyme is great stuff, but using it a lot during the early stages is wasteful. It's best saved for when you plant is showing signs of stress, especially ones that may be orginating in the root zone.

Hygrozyme is another GREAT product in my experience. Nothing but good things to say and healthy white roots.
