Hi, Last December I talked to you about how to use Hygrozyme in my aeroponics setup.  At the time I promised to tell you how I made out.

I am very delinquent in informing you that all has gone very well. I properly disposed of the Physan 20 and instead treated the growing medium (expanded-clay balls) with Hygrozyme and add Hygrozyme weekly to the water when I replace it in the aeroponics garden.  I have been producing tomatoes for almost a year now and all seems to be quite good.  No algae anywhere and no visible diseases and the tomatoes continue to set and mature.

A belated but sincere thanks for your help last year.

As any professional grower or gardener will tell you, Pythium root rot is a nasty pest that, if left untreated, can cause failure of an entire crop in very short order.  Formerly classified as a fungus, scientists have learned much more about the varying “strains” of Pythium and have changed its classification to a pathogen.   Regardless of the type of pathogen involved, the mechanism of action for the Pythium genus remains the same.  Oftentimes Pythium root rot is referred to as “damping off.”

Hygrozyme is a highly refined enzymatic cleaner/facilitator for dead matter. Keeping in mind that it is sterile and inert, Hygrozyme cannot kill anything. Its key role therefore is to act as a prophylactic. Many leaf borne diseases like Black Spot, of Powdery Mildew flourish in the presence of dead matter. Transferred by humans, macro organisms or air borne arrival, these diseases can set in quickly when in the presence of dead matter. The regular use of Hygrozyme can be a deterrent by removing dead matter and at the same time fostering the presence of beneficial micro organisms on leaf surfaces and in the grow medium or hydroponic solution. This is especially the case in combination with compost extracts that contain micro protagonists. For best results it should be used right from the start of a clean system to maintain those conditions. Applications at a rate of 1.5 ml per 1 litre are sufficient.

Boris,

Just a quick note to let you know we now have several clients using Hygrozyme on a regular basis. Hygrozyme (H/Z). When used for Hydroponic Lettuce Production, results in faster growth rates with reportedly improved shelf life. These are observations coming from our growers. Further more, Hygrozyme is a great additive for crops experiencing root disease problems – H/Z seems to arrest the development of the disease, and continued application has seen crops recover from root disease problems and prevented the re-occurrence of the disease on younger crops growing within the same system. Two most memorable example of success with H/Z include:

We have used this product at GreenCoast and it Works!!We put this product to the test in one of our reservoirs that was hosting an oily bacterial infection that we could not seem to defeat. It kept coming back no matter how many times we sterilized the reservoir. Our plants were weak; the roots were mushy and brown. After running Hygrozyme in the reservoir for about 4 days, the oily substance was gone and there were fresh new white roots appearing. Hygrozyme saved our plants. This is a great enzymatic forumla.
